TUESDAY 17TH APRIL, 2018....UPDATE ON "COLOR OF PASSION"
EPISODE #118.
SHOWN ON TV3
A WHORA'S FALLOUT & DRUNKEN HOUDINI
I couldn't get the video to load on my phone so I "watched" this on an old Mac with all the plugins out of date and a defective mouse pad. As a result, the video of this episode was a black screen with audio only and no option to rewind. I typed notes on my phone and went back to add snark, speculation and imagined details later. Not exactly how I had hoped to take a bow from this show but this should be "interesting". Enjoy!
At Casa Zúñiga, Brígida catches her husband sucking face with her frenemy houseguest and decides to throw Rebeca out. Rebe proclaims her innocence: I wasn't the kisser, I was the kissee! You can't kick me out, we're besties!

Brígida disdainfully replies: "As you said before, you and I have never been friends." Now get your skanky behind out my house before I smack your face clear off your face! Ever the slimy spinner, Amador tries to spin his way out of this one: "This has an explanation." He explains that the fábrica is going through a rough patch and he was trying to comfort Rebe.
"I'm not as stupid as you think I am and I don't give a rat's patootie about your bleedin' fábrica!" How about this: I tripped and my tongue landed down Rebeca's throat? No? You don't buy that one either? OK, you should calm down and we'll talk later. This was the last straw for Brígida: "There's not gonna be anymore talking between us! This is over! I swear on my son's life!" Whoa! Check out the new pair of ovaries on Brí! You go, girl!
Nora decides to leave the house and run away with her mother. It'll be like Thelma and Louise without the wry humor, the empowering personal odyssey and the lesbian subtext. Nora is afraid Lucía will rat her out (delatar) to the police for committing a murder by bolsazo.

Lucía tries to stop her: "You can't go with her because she'll destroy you. [...] Your mother is a murderer! ¡Una maldita asesina! She killed my mom to usurp her place!" Nora can't believe what she's hearing. She doesn't understand why Lucía would invent such a heinous lie about Mommy Whorest.
Swooshy flashback sound. Milagros admits she killed Marcelo's father to stop him from leaving her. Basically, Mother Terror pulled a Rebeca before even Rebeca could pull a Rebeca. Milagros is the original "I'd kill you before I'd let you divorce me" merry widow of Colorlandia. Marcelo's sniveling is interrupted by Rafaela who tries to justify why she hid the truth from him.

Milagros is the original "I'd kill you before I'd let you divorce me" merry widow of Colorlandia. Marcelo's sniveling is interrupted by Rafaela who tries to justify why she hid the truth from him.
Marcelo lets her off the hook right way, telling her she's the kindest woman he knows. Besides, on some level, Marcelo says he suspected foul play was involved in his father's untimely passing. Rafaela announces that Milagros came to Puebla to apologize to her for failing to kill her with that near-fatal tumble down the stairs. Rafaela has decided to accept the apology and move back in with Mother Terror.
Marcelo's strident "Why?" echoes the patio's sentiment, though I suspect what he really wanted to say was: "Vitch, are you tripping? WTF is wrong with you?" Marcelo believes Mother Terror deserves to be alone. "Good or bad, wrong (equivocada) or right, she is the only mother you have." Bye, Rafaela! Go play house with Milli Vitchilli in Mexico City. You can start a business venture selling novelty Plot Guns or workout stilettos or arsenic-laced quesadillas. Girl, I'm Gonna Miss You... NOT!
Magdalena and Mario argue about kids. It's only the 78th time this happens and it's not at all boring me to distraction. Mario doesn't want to adopt some stranger's kid. He wants his child to carry his genes. Considering the epidemic of dysfunctional bio kids in Colorlandia, I say go with adoption.

Magdalena is disappointed her formerly-wonderful boo is feeling this way when there are so many children in need of a loving home. His perfectly-formulated comeback goes something like this: Had you married Ricardo, he would have filled your home with kids and you would've been very happy! Magdalena walks away in a huff. Welcome to Doghouse Island, Mario. Population: You.
Rebeca is sniveling but she managed to make it to the fábrica. She orders Normita to get money out of the petty cash box (la caja chica) and pay the taxi waiting outside. She also instructs her not to allow anybody into her office or transfer her any phone calls.
Frantic doorbell-ringing. Whora Minor is at Casa Zúñiga looking for her mother. Brígida is not in a welcoming mood, que digamos. She tells her she caught her mother in a lip lock with Amador. "Now I don't have the slightest doubt that your mommy is a piece of trash! Then again, she took her sister's husband so what can one expect of her! You'd better get the heck out of here. I no longer want anything to do with you or anyone in your family!" You lying thieving whoring freak shows!
Whora Major phones her spawn to let her know she's no longer at Casa Zúñiga. She has parked her busted behind at the fábrica. For now.
Lucía is panicking because of what she revealed to Nora. Thankfully, she managed to hold her tongue before blurting out that Rebeca was involved in Alonso's death. Magdalena is shocked to learn this. Shocked but not particularly surprised. Lucía asserts that she has solid evidence to back up her accusations. Too bad it all boils down to Plot Earring and wild speculation. Lucía is concerned about Nora's reaction when this truth bomb drops. Alonso is the person Nora loved and respected most in her life.
Hide the innocent pottery! A Whoras' showdown is underway at Talavera Gaxiola. "Tell me it isn't true! Tell me you didn't kill Lucía's mom!" For once, Rebeca doesn't resort to her usual deny-and-deflect defense mechanism. She accepts the fact and claims it was an accident. "No te conozco, Mamá. [It seems] I don't [even] know you, Ma." Rebeca desperately tries to explain how events transpired that cursed day on the balustrade of bereavement. "It was all an accident! Just like what happened to you with Ricardo!"

"Ricardo was nothing to me! Adriana was your sister!" Nora heaps an avalanche of blame on her mother for poisoning her life and instilling hatred in her heart towards her sister. This is the common denominator between Whora Major and Whora Minor. Both mother and daughter abhor their sisters and wish them ill, but Rebeca went too far when she committed sororicide. Rebeca pleads with Nora to accept to run away together but the latter seems disgusted by her mother: "I'd rather land in jail than be with you!" Nora storms out leaving Rebe behind to bawl her eyes out.
Cue Colorlandia's self-righteous puppy on his high horse, offering sermons nobody asked for. He tells a distraught Rebeca that she got what she deserves. He's not here to gloat (yes, you are!); in fact, he pities her. But hey, that's life. One reaps (cosechar) what one sows (sembrar).

Yeah, and one receives a brick upside the head when one gives unsolicited sermons to a hardened villana. "¡Todavía no estoy acabada! I still have the strength to finish you and Lucía!" "You're threatening me? A estas alturas, at this stage in the game, you're threatening me?" Yes, labradoodle, what you gonna do about it? "It's not a threat, it's a warning (advertencia)." "Whatevs, I sent you an email with important info about your dear business partner. Not that I think it interests you right now."
Amador is making a fool of himself in public. He's drunk off his rocker, bragging about his social status and forcefully trying to buy champagne to unwilling female patrons. Security guards expel him from the bar and he makes a whole lotta noise on his way out. "Do you know who I am?" Nobody cares, Amadiva! Go scream at traffic!
Brígida denounces her hubby to the authorities. Her only proof is that she overheard a dead man tell Amador that he would provide him with an alibi for the night of Ligia's murder. The detectives state the obvious: They can't pin the murder on Amador without a confession, especially since the star witness is now chilling in Satan's pizza oven.
Vinicio gets arrested in a nearby cantina. He didn't even have the presence of mind to skip town. That's, like, Petty Criminal 101.
Alfredo withdraws the test results for him and Daniela from the lab.
It's quitting time at Talavera Gaxiola. Normita checks on Rebeca who wants money from the petty cash box and the keys to one of the company cars. Normita thinks Rebe shouldn't stay alone at the office and Rebe thinks Normita shouldn't stick her nose where it doesn't belong.
Lalo, Marcelo and Don Nazario are gossiping about Amadiva's fall from grace. Lalo doubts they've seen the end of him though: "Ese narizón tiene más vidas que un gato. That big-schnozzed mofo has more lives than a cat." Don Nazario offers to take Normita home. "Do I look like I wanna be taken home?" Dang, girl, that was brutal! Lalo wonders why Normita has been majorly pished aff (encorajinada) at Don Nazario of late. Nazario tells Lalo to mind his own business, nosey! Marcelo chimes in: He never thought that, at his age, Don Nazario would be having girl troubles (andar metido en líos de faldas). Nazario is not amused: "You can shut up too!"
Nora is back at Casa Gaxiola to pout and ponder. She tells Lucía that Rebeca didn't even try to deny the accusation. Nora says she would never hurt her sister that way. That time she shot Lucía in the leg accidentally on purpose made Nora feel terrible and terribly remorseful, for, like, two whole days. "Me enseñaron a odiarte y ahora, no sé cómo quererte. I was taught to hate you and now, I don't know how to love you.

" Lucía reassures her baby sis that everything will be alright. "With time, we'll manage to get there eventually. You and I are sisters. Sisters! Daddy would've loved for us to get along." Nora thinks her dad left this world feeling very disappointed in her. Lucía disagrees: "No, Daddy loved us both very much! He loved us just the way we are." Nora wonders if their father would have asked her to go to the police and confess her crime.
Lucía believes their dad would've given Nora his unconditional support to help her do the right thing and face the consequences. Lucía assures Nora that she is there to stand by her side. They'll talk to Mario. He's the best attorney in the region and he'll help Nora prove to the authorities that Tricky Ricky's death by bolsazo was just a freaky accident. Nora says she needs to think about this. Time to pout and ponder some more.
A drunken Amadiva staggers into Casa Zúñiga: "Why is there nothing to eat in this house?" Brígida reminds him that she threw his cheating behind out. Amadiva is just the right amount of $hit-faced to launch into a slurred tirade and to start claiming the house: "You can do whatever you want! You can whine (lloriquear), you can boo, you can stomp (patear). Do whateeever you want. I am not leaving this house.

This is MY house! I paid for it! And I am staying! Gooni-goo-goo!" Brígida wants to be the one to leave but he doesn't let her. She's his wife and will always be. Her duty is to be with her husband. If he goes down, she goes down with him. Yes, there have been other women in his life but none of them has been his wife. Brígida is his one and only wife. They struggle for a bit then she gives him a resounding slap and runs away.
The detectives put the screws on Vinicio. He'd better start talking or else he'll be charged with that great big list of crimes all on his own.
Daniela opens the pregnancy test results in front of her father and all I hear after that is whine, whine, whine. Every time she opens her pie hole I want to facepalm myself with a belt sander. She wants to get rid of the baby without telling the baby's father.

However, Alfredo thinks she ought to inform the lucky bastard that he landed the Human Barnacle as his baby momma. Daniela is intent on having an abortion and Alfredo wants her to tap into her maternal instinct, wherever that's located. How come the two biggest wastes of oxygen in Colorlandia, who barely qualify to take care of a pet rock, get to have a human baby, while a responsible loving couple is rendered sterile? Even in TNs, life has a perverse sense of humor.
Alfredo leaves a message on Rebeca's cell to let her know that the DNA result came back positive. He's going to Puebla tomorrow to meet his other monstrous spawn.
Rodrigo informs Comandante Juárez that he has accepted a job in Mexico City and that he can be reached on the same cell number the police has. Juárez informs him they have a prime suspect in Ligia's murder but they can't reveal the suspect's identity just yet.
Text messages are exchanged and/or received. I can identify the characters' voices but not their cellphone chimes! :D
Magdalena gets home. Round 79 of the same circular argument about kids. Magdalena ends the tiff by saying she doesn't think about getting divorced or leaving the house but Mario can't ask her not to be upset with this situation. I've changed my mind about these two getting a baby. Here, take this pet rock. You can dress it in a flowy kleenex and call it Marmaggie Hernández Murillo.
Lucía and Marcelo rehash the shocking revelations that they both have a parent who died in suspicious circumstances. Marcelo informs his ladylove that her wicked stepmother-aunt went to the fábrica. Lucía wishes she could kick her out of there too. Marcelo says Rebe threatened to harm Lucía but the latter isn't afraid one bit. I drink Lala Milk everyday, boy! Nevertheless, Marcelo warns her not to underestimate the devastating power of a Whora Major cornered.
Ominous violins play.
Frantic doorbell-ringing. Brígida says: "Amador?" A few seconds later, Comandante Juárez announces that they came to arrest Amador. "Didn't you tell me earlier that you didn't have enough proof to arrest him?" "For Ligia's murder, we didn't, but we do now have proof that he ordered the murder of Mrs. Trinidad Barrera de Treviño." Vinicio sang like a canary! "Are you gonna let us in or do we have to use force?" Brígida opens the door and tells them that Amador is in the living room. Impactful music plays then Brígida declares: "I swear he was here just a moment ago!" Amadiva vanished! Dun-dun-duuuun!
Thank you all for the pleasure of your company. Your continued support, insightful comments and witty observations have enriched this novela-watching experience. It has been my privilege to be one of your recappers.
