Scene begins with LB shooting the target with precision. GR is stunned. A white dove comes fluttering there. LB strokes it affectionately. GR asks why has this bird come ? LB sweetly replies "perhaps to tell you that from now on you are not alone." They have a cute LaGan moment (La-Lakshmibai Ga- GAngadhar) . Yes that's the name I have coined for our latest couple.
Lack of nourishment and sudden excitement makes her faint and she falls into his arms.
Moropant is packing his trunk. He is reliving all the agonising events that occured in the past days. He tells a servant to inform the Peshwa that he will be arriving in Bithur shortly.
Shivram Bhau is also upset. He tells a visitor that he was planning to marry off Chimnabai. (Some dialogues here which I did not follow...)
The raj Vaidya is checking LB's pulse by tying a thread to her wrist (never heard of this before). He informs there is nothing to worry about, it is only because of the fasting. GR calls for food. Two maids bring in plates. LB says she has kept a fast and will break her fast only by accepting food from his hands as prasad. GR smiles and uncovers a plate. (there are ladoos, mini idlis ....) He feeds a few morsels to LB. Another LaGan moment.
GR says you were wanting to say somethign in the durbar, but kept quiet- What is it? LB replies "Like the rest of the family my views do not match with yours either." GR says "never mind, speak up" LB replies that CHimnabhai has saved her (LB's) husband's life and hence made her indebted for ever. Forgetting this family enimity would be the best way to repay her. GR enquires if such a problem had occured at the peshwa mahraj's court would he have solved in similar manner ? LB replies "most certainly"
Maithili (doesn't she have anyhting better to do?) promptly informs AS that GR is feeding LB with his own hands. AS eyes light up in anger.
GR gets up from the bed and streches his hand out. LB hands him his crown (Must watch guys- very symbolic)
GR makes his way to the Durbar. He sits onthe throne. He has visions of Swami Shivanand saying that enemies have already entered the palace. Visions of Shivaram bhau seeking justice, Moropant pleading to keep his daughter away from all this, LB supporting Chimnabhai.. come floating in front of his eyes. In frustation GR smashes a lampshade. A servant comes in. GR asks him to summmon all the courtiers, ministers and everybody else. He will deliver his verdict shortly.
AS is walking towards the court. She spots LB and asks her not to gloat over such a small happiness. LB replies that when the truth is out, she too will be happy. AS warns her that after this day no member of the Khanwelkar family should be seen in the palace- or else she (LB ) will be answerable.
Everyone is assembled in the court. The king is ready to announce the verdict. He says that the enimity b/w the two families should be forgotten and probably this is a godsend oppurtunity for the two families to unite. GR announces that his verdict is that Moropant should wed Chimnabhai.
Moropant is shocked . LB is smiling (for what- a new stepmother?). AS is astounded.
