EVERYONE'S GOT SOME EXPLAINING TO DO...........
Outside Marcelo’s room, Milagros gets tired of waiting for the lovebirds and barges in on Lucia and Marcelo. She tells them that she doesn’t mean to be rude but Marcelo needs to rest. Lucia agrees and steps outside but not before saying goodbye to Rafaela while completely bypassing Milagros. Milagros asks Marcelo about his “private” conversation with Lucia and Marcelo answers that it was personal. Milagros asks if that means they are back together and Marcelo ask if that worries her. Milagros tells him that the only thing that worries her right is his health. Marcelo then asks Milagros to go find the doctor that operated on him so he can ask him what he did. Milagros obliges.
Once the coast is clear, Rafaela runs over to Marcelo’s side and asks if him and Lucia are indeed back together. Marcelo tells her that it’s more than that; they’re engaged! He then cautions to keep the news a secret and they agree to not mention anything. They hug.
In the hallway, Lucia runs into Ramon Andrade. They ask each other what they are doing at the hospital. Ramon is visiting a patient and Lucia was visiting her boyfriend. Ramon asks if she means Marcelo Escalante. Lucia is surprised that he knows him but Ramon tells him that he knows Marcelo from his sessions with Nora since he is the, currently, the biggest point of conflict between Lucia and Nora. Lucia explains that it’s much worse than that he is the reason why they’re relationship is inevitably fractured. Ramon then asks if she knows why Nora is not going to her sessions; since they met Nora hasn’t gone to see him again and consistency is key in her treatment. He grabs Lucia’s hands and asks that she please talk to Nora and make her understand. Milagros watches this from across the hall and sees them holding hands (of course getting the wrong idea).
At the Gaxiola household, Alonso is grilling Nora about missing work at the factory. She tells him that she had stuff to do but Alonso counters that she promised to take her job seriously. Nora asks why he’s so mad since she only missed one day. Alonso tells her that it’s funny the only day she missed was the same one when Marcelo was in the hospital. He’s disappointed that her whole discourse about bettering herself and getting more involved was just an excuse. Nora can’t believe he’s saying that with a straight face since he’s involved with Sara. Alonso demands that she respect them both because they are not involved physically or emotionally. Nora asks him if he’s going to leave her mother and Alonso explains that his problems with Rebeca are not Sara’s fault. Nora asks again if he’s going to leave her mother but Alonso tells her he doesn’t have to explain himself and she has until Monday to decide if she’s coming back to the factory because he’s not going to tolerate her in discipline.
Leti and Sergio are talking about Ligia’s murder. Sergio tells her that the only thing they know is that she was strangled. Leti tells him that it must’ve been horrible and then asks if he let Rodrigo know. Sergio tells him that he did since they were coworkers and Leti makes it clear that she’s not going to say anything about Rodrigo and Ligia since she doesn’t want the gossip to get around town now that Ligia’s passed. Sergio then asks where she was yesterday and Leti tells him that she was taking care of some personal stuff. Sergio asks if she wants to talk about it but Leti tells him that she will when she’s ready. She then runs off to make copies.
The police are interviewing Ricardo about Amador’s alibi. Ricardo tells them that it’s true; they were at Alfredo’s talking business until 10:00 and hen they came back to his apartment and Amador left around 12:00 am or 1:00 am. Ricardo asks why they are interviewing him and the police tell him that Amador had an affair with Ligia Cervantes, who was murdered a few nights ago. Ricardo slowly sips his water but doesn’t say anything else. The police tell him they’ll be in touch and leave the apartment.
Rodrigo is in his room, remembering the last conversation he had with Ligia. She had asked if he pitied her and he told her no. There’s a knock on his door and Amador walks in as Rodrigo wipes a tear. Amador wants to talk about their relationship, specifically why Rodrigo is so resentful toward Amador. Rodrigo tells him that he doesn’t want to talk about that but Amador tries to make amends: he’s sorry he’s been a brute sometimes but he loves him. Rodrigo asks what he wants to do about it and Amador suggest that they start fresh and both of them make an effort to build a better relationship. Rodrigo agrees and the two hug but Rodrigo warns him not to mention his new business venture again. Amador then tells him that he was right and he’s going to turn the page on his relationship with Alonso and about Marcelo Escalante as well.
At the hospital, the doctor tells Marcelo that he will be able to get out of the hospital tomorrow if all keeps going on the up and up. Milagros is shocked at how soon they are discharging him but the doctor explains that his wound was more show than anything and once they stopped the bleeding everything will be okay. The doctor excuses himself and then Milagros tells Rafaela to leave him and her son for the night; it’s her job to take care of him. Rafaela says goodbye and leaves then Milagros comments on how happy Marcelo looks since Lucia’s visit. Marcelo tells him that he was very happy to see her. Milagros then tells him what he saw in the hospital hallway with Lucia and Roman and how “friendly” they were acting.
Lucia goes to visit Nora in her room. Nora opens the door and starts screaming about what happened in the morning outside of the hospital. Lucia tells her that she’s there to talk about Roman; she saw him today and he told her that she hadn’t been going to her sessions. Nora goes on the defensive and asks that Lucia mind her own business because she doesn’t know what’s good or bad for her. Lucia tells her that Roman seems very professional and he’s worried about her. Nora tells her to go see him then and he might worry about her too. Lucia wants to know what she’s talking about. Nora tells her that no matter the man, they always like Lucia more: Rodrigo, Marcelo, Roman. Lucia throws her hands up in the air and walks out declaring (once again) that Nora is impossible to talk to.
Leti is at Ligia’s old desk trying to answer phones and gather paperwork when Ricardo walks in. He tells her good evening and asks if she remembers him. Leti tells him that she could never forget someone as disagreeable as him, he even gave her chills the first time they saw each other. Ricardo tells him that he doesn’t know what Sara told her but he swears he didn’t know about her. Leti asks that he keep pretending that she doesn’t exist but Ricardo insists that she get to know him first. Leti screams that she doesn’t as Mario walks in, asking what is going on. Leti excuses herself because she prefers not to be in the same room as Ricardo. When she’s left, Mario tells Ricardo to leave and never come back because Leti doesn’t want him around. Ricardo tells him that he came to drop some papers off and hands them to Mario before leaving. Sergio, who has witnessed the whole thing, asks Mario who that was and Mario tells him that it was Leti’s father.
Lucia is on the phone with Rafaela who is telling her the good news: Marcelo may be discharged tomorrow. Lucia is ecstatic. Rafaela then tells her that she knows about the engagement and she’s happy for them. Marcelo is a great guy despite all the dumb things he’s done he loves her. Lucia tells her that she loves him too and then goes to say something but holds it in until tomorrow when she sees him in person. She thanks Rafaela and hangs up.
At that moment, Rebecca is coming down the stairs, shocked to learn the news. She comments that it only took Marcelo dying for her to take him back. Lucia asks that she mind her own business but Rebeca tells her that it is her business since her and Marcelo slept together. Lucia declares that that is a lie. Marcelo already explained to her everything that happened. Rebeca tells her that she was actually there and she can tell her all the juicy details. Lucia tells her she’s not interested as Alonso walks in and asks what the problem is. Rebeca tells him that she was asking Lucia about Marcelo and Lucia tells him that she should ask Nora since she was at the hospital this morning. She then excuses herself and Rebeca offers to talk to Nora since her relationship with Alonso has been tense. Alonso hopes that she does.
Magdalena goes to visit Mario at his office and tells him that she came to check in on him because it’s so late. Mario tells her that Amador’s lawyer came with papers to dissolve the Talavera Gaxiola partnership and he was going over them. He then confesses that Ricardo is Amador’s lawyer. Magdalena hopes her breath but tells Mario that it doesn’t surprise her since they’re the same. Magdalena then tells him that Sara told Leti everything and Mario tells her about Leti’s reaction when she saw Ricardo in the office. Magdalena then asks about Ligia and Mario tells her they located a cousin who they’re going to hand the body over to.
In the morgue, Daniela goes to identify Ligia’s body. She gasped when the police pull back the sheet and runs as the police cover back up the body. In the hallway, Daniela steadies herself on the wall as the policeman asks if she’s okay. Daniela tells him that she is not and asks when she died. The police say Wednesday or Thursday between 10pm – 12am. Daniel remembers that she caught Ligia with Rodrigo at around 8 pm. The police ask for Rodrigo’s age and Daniela estimates it to be around 26 or 27. The police ask if he has any relation with Amador Zuniga and Daniela tells him that that’s his father. The police ask if Amador knew her cousin but Daniela doesn’t know. The police then take her to get her official statement.
Rebeca is pouncing on Nora for going to the hospital after she forbid it but Nora tells him that she loves him and she had to see him. Rebeca tells her that it’s humiliating to be begging Marcelo for his love, especially now that he’s back with Lucia. Nora asks if Lucia told her that but Rebeca tells her that she didn’t but it’s obvious. Nora goes into a fit, Lucia told her that she didn’t want anything with Marcelo anymore but Rebeca tells her that Lucia can say anything she wants but she’s back with him and Nora should take her own life as an example. Nora tells her that the man she loves isn’t going to leave her. Rebeca tells her that Alonso hasn’t left but Nora confesses that he’s about to. Just then, Tere walks in and announces that Sergio is downstairs, looking for Nora. As Nora’s about to leave, Rebeca tells her that they’re not finished talking but Nora tells her that she is and storms out. Rebeca is having a major silent freak out.
Downstairs, Nora receives Sergio who tells her that he came to see if they could go to dinner since it was Friday and they hadn’t seen each other in a while. Nora agrees and they leave.
Lucia is visiting Mazarin, who is happy she came by to see him. She asks about Magdalena and Nazario tells her she’s out. Nazario inquires about Marcelo’s health and Lucia tells him that he may be discharged tomorrow. Nazario ask if they’re back together and Lucia confesses that they’re engaged. Nazario’s face and still not happy and Lucia asks him what’s wrong. Nazario tells her that while they are both crazy in love, it’s not that simple, especially because of her aunt and that won’t go away. Lucia agrees. Nazario tells her that if they really love each other they need to wipe the slate clean and tell her father everything. He also understands that she’s worried about Alonso’s health but Rebeca might reveal everything soon, especially since her relationship with Alonso is circling the drain and she may have nothing left to lose. If they let her reveal everything, she may ruin everything for her and Marcelo. He then offers her a coffee and goes to make it.
In the hospital, Marcelo is walking around, getting water, and Milagros is pissed. She still doesn’t agree that he would get discharged tomorrow and they should consult another doctor. Marcelo tells her he likes his current doctor. Milagros offers to take care of him and he should go to her apartment when he gets discharged. Marcelo prefers to go to his apartment. Milagros asks him why he doesn’t let her take care of him, he’s the only son she has left and he puts up all kinds of barriers. Marcelo is shocked; he confesses that he always she didn’t care about him and besides, Rafaela is there. Milagros counters that Rafaela isn’t his mother but she knows she can’t force Marcelo to cohabitate with her. She leaves to the cafeteria.
Leti gets home and Sara asks if they reprimanded her for being late this morning. Leti tells her no because Mario is super busy because his secretary was murdered. Sara tells her that that’s horrible. Leti then tells her about Ricardo’s visit. Leti doesn’t even want to mention her name. Sara is pissed but Leti tells her it might have been a coincidence but she was still mad to see him. Sara asks her to please not talk to him because he may convince her to talk to him. Leti tells her not to worry, she won’t.
Amador meets with Ricardo who tells him he met with Mario and he’s looking over everything and then he will call him. Amador hopes he doesn’t take long. Ricardo then mentions that policemen came to visit him about Amador’s alibi. Amador tells him that the policemen came to visit him too and he doesn’t know why. Ricardo tells him he’s not an idiot, he knows exactly why he asked him to be his alibi. Amador tries to defend himself but Ricardo tells him he doesn’t want to know the gory details, he just wants him to remember that he owes him one.
Lali is outside Casa Gaxiola trying to ring the doorbell so he can talk to Tere but he fear gets the better of him and he starts to walk away. Lucia, who is coming down the block, asks him if he’s there to visit her father because she can open the door. Lalo asks if she can please give Teresita a letter he wrote her. Lucia is surprised but agrees to do so.
Nora and Sergio are at a club. He tells her that he’s shocked that she agreed to go out with him. Nora tells him that she holds very dear memories of him, despite everything, but this doesn’t mean they’ll get back together. Sergio understands and tells her he appreciates her honesty. Nora then asks if he’s seen Gloria but Sergio tells her hasn’t Nora is surprised because she knew she would go after him as soon as they broke up. Sergio tells her to forget Gloria and asks Nora how her life has been. She confesses that after Rodrigo she has seen things differently and doesn’t want to waste her life. She tells him she’s working at the Talavera so she can take over one day. Sergio tells her that her mother told him the same thing and he’s happy for her. Nora immediately realizes the ruse and calls him out on asking her out only because her mother asked him to. Sergio tries to lie but eventually confesses. She throws her drink in his face and runs out.
Lucia goes to talk to her father. He asks her of she’s calmer about Marcelo and Lucia tells her she is, in fact, she accepted his proposal. Alonso asked if she’s only doing it because he almost died. Lucia supposes but Alonso calls her out on her flip flopping: one day she hates Marcelo, one day she loves him and marriage isn’t a game. Lucia understands and tells him that despite everything, Marcelo is the man she wants to spend the rest of her life with. Alonso asks if he right now his defects aren’t relevant, will they one be. Lucia confesses that they might, especially for him. Alonso asks her to be more straight forward but Lucia rushes off after staying Marcelo is a better person than Rodrigo.
Marcelo is resting on the couch in the hospital when Milagros walks in. He apologizes to her for his injustices. She asks him if that means she’s going to live with him but Marcelo asks her to stay with her, he doesn’t want Daniela to pop in unannounced. Milagros asks if he’s scared of Lucia finding out but Marcelo tells her that he just doesn’t want to be near Daniela or give her time to get the wrong idea. Milagros tells him that she left to Mexico and Milagros hasn’t even told her what happened to him because he would get mad. Marcelo tells her he still prefers his house. Milagros agrees
Daniela arrives at Milagros’ apartment and finds no one there. She calls her father to catch up and tells him that Ligia passed away. She realizes that he didn’t know her well but the whole thing’s been weird. She then asks that he please move forward his trip and he asks if she needs money. Daniela confesses that she doesn’t need just that from him but doesn’t push the issue. She wishes him well and hangs up then begins to cry.
Nora storms into Rebeca’s room and asks her to not get involved in her life again and to not deny it. Rebeca tells her she has no reason to; she was just worried about her. Nora screams that she knows she did it just to get her to forget Marcelo but it’s not going to work because Marcelo is going to be for her and if she gets in her way she’ll be sorry. Rebeca tells her that she’s tired of her attitude and of everyone treating her like crap but Nora tells her that she hopes her father leaves her so then she can stay with him and Marcelo even if she rots from inside. Rebeca announces that they are leaving Puebla tomorrow and hopefully she’ll finally forget Marcelo when she’s far away. Nora tells her she isn’t going but Rebeca tells her that she’s leaving with her even if she has to drag her.
Nora goes ballistic and grabs a nearby letter opener Rebeca was using to open letters and starts stabbing the pillows on the chairs. Rebeca tries to control her as Alonso walks in but Nora accidently slashes her hand. Nora looks at Rebeca and Alonso, who are stupefied, and runs out. Rebeca tells him she’s okay and he runs after her but she’s already barricaded her in her room. Alonso asks that she open the door as Lucia comes out of her room, asking what happened. Alonso tells her that Nora is crazy; she attacked her mother with a letter opener. In her room, Nora is having a nervous breakdown and panic attack all at once. Alonso tells her that she’s going to knock down the door but Lucia asks him to calm down. Right now is not the time. They hug as Alonso calms down.
The next morning, Amador asks Brigida for more coffee but she ignores him. As he’s thinking of saying something, Rodrigo walks in, happy to see him so early. Rodrigo tells him that he’s going to Ligia’s funeral. Amador tells him that he read what happened in the newspaper and it’s a damn shame. Brigida asks him to at least stay for breakfast and he agrees as the doorbell rings. Amador offers him his fruit since he didn’t eat it and asks Brigida to bring him something to drink. Esperanza goes to answer the door and comes back with the policemen, who announce that they are here for Rodrigo as he is a suspect in Ligia’s murder. Rodrigo tells them that he didn’t do anything but the policemen cuff him so they can take his statement at the police station. Brigida begs Amador to do something but he’s as shocked as everyone…
